Chapter 8 I Want to Play a Game

Chapter 8 I Want to Play a Game
In the small room, Tony took a deep breath, his eyes wandering over the three figures on the TV screen, his face changing from gloomy to happy.

The first picture shows a pot-bellied, bald old man. He is Obadiah Stane, a good friend of Tony's father and a shareholder of Stark Industries. He is also a mentor and friend to Tony.

The second one is a blonde beauty, Pepper Potts, who is Tony’s assistant and the person he trusts the most.

Seeing the figure in the third picture, Tony couldn't believe his eyes: "You dare to tie up an Air Force colonel, are you crazy?!"

James Rhodes is currently a colonel in the United States Air Force. Tony has known him since college and they have become close friends. The two have a very deep relationship.

He never expected that an officer like Rhodes was kidnapped. Tony's heart was beating violently and his head was aching badly.

He finally realized that he was not facing an ordinary bandit seeking money, but a madman.

Facing the crazy kidnapper, Tony put away his contemptuous thoughts. He didn't dare to gamble with the safety of these three people, so he gritted his teeth and said, "Okay, you win. Tell me, what game do you want to play? I'll accompany you to the end."

"Tony, it seems that you still have a trace of conscience in your heart, which is a good thing."

The strange face of the puppet Billy appeared on the TV again, and his red eyes blinked slowly: "With your intelligence, it will be easy for you to pass the game and find your 'love' again. Unlike others, I have great confidence in you, don't let me down."

And what about “others”?
Yes, if they didn’t have accomplices, how could Rhodes and his men be caught so easily.

This is bad.

If there are many gangsters, how can he save them all by himself?
Tony was panicking inside, but he remained calm on the surface and snorted, "Stop talking nonsense and come quickly. I have a date tomorrow morning."

"You look very energetic. I hope you can keep it up."

Billy let out a deep laugh, took out the remote and pressed the button again: "Then here comes the prize for the first level, Miss Pepper Potts!"

The TV screen switched to a close-up of Pepper, and Tony could clearly see her panic-stricken profile and the dark circles under her eyes that were not covered by makeup.

"Damn it, you actually deprived her of the right to put on makeup and exposed her bare face."

I have to say, Tony felt a little disappointed and guilty. Did he leave too much work to Pepper?
".Don't worry about such trivial matters."

Billy paused and continued, "Tony, in the first level of the game, you have to walk out of this room by yourself and go to the next room to save Miss Potts, otherwise she will be cut in half by the chainsaw. Remember, you only have half an hour."

"Half an hour?"

Only then did Tony notice that there was a slowly moving chainsaw in front of Pepper. If nothing unexpected happened, the chainsaw would cut Pepper in half in half an hour.

"Law! You locked me in here, I would have escaped if I could have gotten out!"

"Here's a tip for you: don't trust your eyes too much. Okay, let the game begin, enjoy it."

"Hey!"

Tony shouted a few times but got no response from Billy. He knew that there was no way to get more information from the kidnapper, and now he had to race against time to find a way to escape.

Looking at Pepper who was frightened by the chainsaw, Tony comforted her in his heart and began to think about how to pass the first level of the game.

"If you want to leave this room, you must first unlock the chains. Since that guy is deliberately trying to play a game with me, he probably won't set a situation where I will definitely die. Therefore, the key to unlock the chains is hidden within the range where I can move."

Tony moved his feet, straightened the chain, and easily carved out his own range of movement.

But no trace of the key was found in this area. "What did that guy mean when he said not to trust your eyes too much? Is there a visual aberration?"

With the mentality of giving it a try, Tony simply closed his eyes, stretched out his hands, pressed them against the wall, and groped around inch by inch.

He searched for a long time without feeling anything special. Just when he thought he was being cheated, he suddenly touched nothing and stretched his hand forward.

When he opened his eyes, Tony found that his palm had sunk into the wall, as if it had been swallowed by the wall.

"That's unscientific! It looks like just an ordinary wall."

Tony's interest was piqued, but now was obviously not the time to study it, so he had to suppress his curiosity, reached his hand in a little deeper, and felt something that felt metallic.

He quickly pulled his hand back and found that he was holding a rusty iron saw.

"???"

Tony was stunned for a moment: "No way, are you asking me to use this iron saw to cut the chain?"

He was not a nerd who only knew how to study. On the contrary, he had strong hands-on skills. When he was very young, he disassembled his father's sports car into a pile of parts by himself.

Therefore, Tony quickly calculated that by the time he successfully sawed through the chain, Pepper would be dead.

"This is a distraction. If it were someone else, they would have rushed to saw the chain and wasted their time. It's me."

Tony boasted and continued his exploration with his eyes closed.

More than ten minutes later, he sat on the ground with dull eyes, muttering to himself: "Why is there nothing else? There is no reason. Using a metal saw will not work at all."

But he searched several times and couldn't find anything except the iron saw he found at the beginning.

"It's impossible to set a dead end for me from the beginning. Is there any way to break it?"

Tony bit his nails hard and racked his brains to think. Suddenly, an idea flashed in his mind and he muttered, "Unless, this iron saw is not for sawing off the chain, but for me to saw off my own feet!"

Compared to steel, human bones are much weaker. If you are ruthless enough, it will take less than two or three minutes to saw off a leg.

But the question is, can Tony be so cruel?

Is he willing to trade one of his feet for Pepper's life?
"Oh, Billy, you've really given me a hard time."

Tony looked at Pepper on TV, who was only ten centimeters away from the chainsaw. Seeing the despair and sadness in her eyes, he helplessly smiled bitterly.

For the first time, he felt a deep sense of powerlessness. He hated his own incompetence and the abominable bastards who played other people's lives for fun.

"Billy, I'm Faq! Did you hear that? I'm Faq! You cowardly fellow, if you have the guts, come out and fight me! I'll give you a hand!"

Tony cursed at the camera, venting his anger.

Tired of scolding, he lay on the ground, staring blankly at the ceiling.

"I'm sorry, Pepper. It's not that I won't save you. It's just that I'm not sure I can save you in that state. Huh?"
